Policies & Procedures

Arrival/Dismissal

SJRCS adheres to strict drop-off and pick-up policies and procedures to minimize traffic congestion, accommodate Salem school buses coming and going from the school front entrance, and for the safety and protection of all the students. Uniforms

All students in Kindergarten through 8th grade are required to wear the mandated uniform and must adhere to enforced uniform policies and procedures as outlined in the “Uniform Dress Code” links below.  Non-uniform (NU) days are allowed ONLY under the discretion and approval of the principal. For NU days, students must adhere to the appropriate dress code as outlined in the “Grades 1-8 Uniform Dress Code” link below. School Supplies

Students are responsible for acquiring their school supplies for the new school year. For each grade, a copy of the school supply list is provided with the student’s final report card in June, or is provided by the teacher in the first/second week of the new school year. Assignment pads and academic workbooks (if required) are included in the school tuition and are provided in the first/second week of the new school year. Supply lists can also be accessed by clicking the applicable link below:

The Art Instructor requires each student supply their own art supplies. Each student’s art supplies are stored in the Art classroom to be used during Art class. These supplies can be purchased from any store that sells art supplies or arts and crafts. It is the responsibility of each student to replenish these supplies if required, for use throughout the school year. For a list of required SJRCS art supplies, click on the link below:

Child Safety

All SJRCS staff members, teachers, and in-house volunteers are required to complete the “Protecting God’s Children” workshop offered by the Diocese of Manchester. More information regarding these workshops and other efforts to ensure the well-being of students is available at the Diocese’s Child Safety webpage. In addition, SJRCS retains an in-house Safe Environment Office managed by a qualified and dedicated staff member who must attend a Safe Environment Conference on an annual basis.  For more information about the SJRCS Safe Environment program, contact the Safe Environment Coordinator (see Contacts).

Emergency School Closings

For announcements of snow days (or flood days), parents should listen to AM Radio Station 1030 or to TV Station WMUR or WBZ. We adhere to the decisions of the Salem, NH school district, so a no school listing for Salem means no school for SJRCS.
